Overview

A Transformative Education must incorporate innovative educational methods that allow addressing today’s global society problems from educational practice, promoting that students develop the necessary skills for building a critical, responsible, and active citizenship, understanding the interrelationships between local and global realities and, at the same time, favouring social and educational inclusion of students in situations of greater vulnerability or risk of early school dropout.

The Transformative Educational Methods for Social Inclusion and Global Citizenship Project (TEMSIC) is an initiative of the NGOs InteRed (Spain), CESIE (Italy) and Südwind (Austria), with the financial support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. It’s main goal is promoting the transformative role of educational centres that links them beyond their classrooms and schools with the global reality and with the search for the common good.

The Project is aimed at:

Teachers of Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary and Upper Secondary Education
Students of Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary and Upper Secondary Education

Objectives

The TEMSIC Project offers the European Community educational resources that promote the inclusion of students from a Global Citizenship Education approach.

Its specific objectives are:

Accompanying educational centres as agents of change to transform our world.
Encouraging the educational inclusion of socially disadvantaged students.
Building critical, responsible, and active Global Citizenship towards the defence of equality, intercultural dialogue and the fight against discrimination and environmental destruction.
Strengthening teachers’ capacities on innovative and transformative educational methods to promote global citizenship and inclusion
Improving students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes, both individual and collective, to promote social inclusion and global citizenship.

Cooperative educational games

Methodology

The TEMSIC Project is committed to a collaborative methodology between the organizations that compose it.

The Project has three different stages:

The first stage, during 2021 for the design and elaboration of the educational resources (methodological guides and cooperative games).
The second stage, during the first semester of 2022 for the cooperative games piloting in educational centres in Italy, Spain, and Austria.
And the third stage, also throughout 2022, for the dissemination and socialization of the developed resources and socialization of the achieved results, among teachers and local, national, and regional educational authorities.

The project “Transformative Educational Methods for Social Inclusion and Global Citizenship” (TEMSIC) is co-financed by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
